Master Password

Your Master Password is the password you use to open Codebook. You create this password when you setup Codebook. It is used to encrypt/decrypt the data on your device. We recommend that you use a secure password because it is the key to accessing all data you are keeping secure in Codebook. This is the one password you need to remember.

Your Master Password is NOT stored by Zetetic, the Codebook Company, so if you forget it, we have no way to provide you with it or reset it for you. Without your Master Password, you will be unable to unlock Codebook to access your information.

What is your Master Password used for:

  • Unlock Codebook on your device
  • Encrypt the local Codebook data at rest
  • It is protected by 256,000 rounds of PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA512

For a detailed explanation of Codebook's security features see: Security Features

You want to create a Master Password that is not easily guessed to protect your data.
