Sharing Key Fingerprint

The Fingerprint is a shortened unique representation of a Sharing Key. It can be used to confirm the authenticity of contact requests by verifying the fingerprint from the request matches the requesters genuine fingerprint.

Verify Sharing Key Fingerprint

When you receive a sharing request, you can reach out to the pending contact via other means (text, email, verbally) for their sharing key fingerprint and confirm that it matches the fingerprint that is displayed on the Pending Contact request. This additional verification ensures that you did not receive the request from someone using a false name or email.
