🚧 This is beta documentation for Codebook version 5.3.0, which has not yet been publicly released.
Verify and establish trust with other users on Codebook Cloud to enable Secure Sharing.
Codebook Cloud doesn't allow just anybody to share entries with you, instead you establish contacts that you trust, and once you do that you can share entries with them.
Your sharing contacts can be viewed and managed on the Manage Contacts view in Codebook. Simply go to Sync > Manage Contacts. You can also access your contacts from the Entry view by using the Share Entry button.
Other users in the same account as you are called Account Contacts, and are automatically added to your list of Trusted Contacts.
To share entries with a Codebook Cloud user on another account, you must first send them a request to add them as a sharing contact. Once they review and approve your request (and thereby trust your Sharing Key), you will get a Pending Contact request giving you a chance to verify their Sharing Key fingerprint. Once you indicate to Codebook that you trust this contact, you will be able to share entries with them.
Tap the Share Entry button from an Entry (or go to Sync > Manage Contacts) to bring up the Manage Contacts view. There you will see an an email text field and a button for sending the request. Enter the email address of the person you wish to add as a contact.
Account Contacts are automatically trusted by Codebook, but when someone outside your account wants to share with you, Codebook will prompt you to trust the contact. You should verify their sharing key fingerprint out-of-band to confirm that the request is really from someone you know.
When a contact approves your sharing request, or when their sharing key fingerprint changes, Codebook will prompt you to Verify the contact. You can do this on the Manage Contacts view -- you will see any contacts that require your verification in the Pending Contacts list. You should verify their sharing key fingerprint out-of-band to confirm that the request is really from someone you know.
